GK Organic Farm, Grand Lexis, PD and Malacca

Company trip 2012

We had our company trip on 6 October and 7 October 2012. 2 days one night, stayed in Grand Lexis Port Dickson and food hunt in Malacca.
It was 7:45am in the morning....we gathered at Jin Xuan Dim Sum restoran to fill up our tummy before heading to our first destination. This restoran is highly recommended by a lot of food bloggers. Maybe because we got there too early, some dim sum that we ordered were not warm enough, but overall was quite nice and the staff are friendly with good services.

GK Organic Farm

We departed to our first journey after having a full tummy-- it was GK organic farm which was situated near Bangi. It took about 40 minutes for us to reach GK organic farm. They have a detail map and description guide on their website to guide us to their farm. We need to pre-book with full payment  so that they can make necessary arrangement.
Here it is-- this photo was taken at the parking area.

The person in-charge, Mr Gan already waiting for us when we arrived. There was another family with 3 little kids joining the visit.

We were served with welcome fruits-organic banana.....we were encouraged to eat the banana with the skin as the skin is much more nutritious then the fresh itself.

After half an hour's briefing, it's time for us to visit the farm. We need to walk with barefoot throughout the farm visit, it was a free foot message experience and to discharge the static electricity accumulated in the body.
Here they planted not only fruits and vegetables, but also herbs and flowers. This is so called Chef garden where the herbs and flowers had been tasted and confirmed to have health benefits after doing some researches. These were always used to prepare the organic cuisine.

These ponds are mainly supplying water for daily usage including water to consume. The first pond is 5 meter deep, the water will enter to the 2nd pond (8 meter) by going through the sands and rocks which served as a filtration system. Mr Gan said there were only 3 people able to dive into the bottom of the 8 meter depth pond, one is from Philippine, one from Japan and one is himself. He had been diving into the pond for many times, mainly to pick up those 'important' things accidentally dropped by the visitors.

Here is the process of making composite - the food for the plant. According to Mr Gan, they need 2 full time workers everyday to do the composite process. It needs a minimum of 6 months time for the composites to mature depends on weather and other circumstances. They will also burn the cockles to add the calcium to the composite. According to him, for those crops attacked by snails were due to lack of calcium.  In GK organic farm, they won't add any fertilizer nor removing the bugs, for them bugs is to maintain the ecosystem. A healthy plant will not get infected by bugs.

 The making of composites.....

Below is the view of the organic vegetable farm

Here we can find Misai Kuching and Roselle. Misai Kuching was long known and had been used to treat diabetes and high blood pressure.
Roselle found to have very high content of vitamin C and the vitamin C was very special in such that it will not been destroyed even it was expose to 200C of heat. We tasted the leave of  Roselle too, it tastes sour and fresh.....nice!

Mr Gan also show us the difference of male and female papaya, according to him, the longer verison is male papaya and the female version is in rounder shape.

We had a chance to hands on as a farmer, planting vegetables with the seedlings.  We were instructed to dig a hole about an inch deep with our finger and put in the seedlings, filled the soil and that is!

There were a lot more fruits and vegetables in the farm such as cabbage, pumpkin, cucumber, lettuce, guava, pineapple, kangkung, spinash...... The local figs, is an very interesting fruit. It is green, round with smooth skin. This fruit is very 'alkaline' and very high in antioxidant, therefore it is very good for cancer patients. According to him tumor will shrink after consuming it.

There, the highlights of the farm visit is we can harvest the sweet potatoes! The leaves already been cut off and we just need to use our hand to dig and shake out the grown sweet potatoes....We were having a great fun harvesting the sweet potatoes and Mr Gan got free labor to do the harvesting...what a win-win situation...haha.....
Harvesting is fun but carrying the harvested sweet potatoes to the packaging area is not easy. Just imagine the basket filled with minimum 10kg of sweet potatoes and you need to carry it walking on bare foot with lots of small rocks and sands, some more it was a great day with big warm sunshine!

Then, we were back to the meeting area again, we were provided with pails of water to wash our hands. We were served with chilled fresh organic sugarcane juice....it was so delicious and refreshing!

What is enzyme? Enzyme is a protein in the body with catalysis. It initiates and accelerates chemical reactions.Various chemical changes in human body are responsible by enzymes, such as digestion of food.Without sufficient enzyme, the nutrients from the food could not be absorbed no matter how much we eat. To make enzyme, what you need is simple...brown sugar, spatula, weighing scale and the ingredient ( any nutritious vegetable/ fruits/herbs). Measure it, mix it and shake it and let it ferment for a minimum duration of 6 months....After demonstrated the enzyme making process, Mr Gan let each of us to have a tried on the taste. He fed each of us a mouth of fermented enzyme. According to him, the enzyme had been fermented for 6 months and above and tested has a tremendous benefits on sore throat, flu and  cough. The ingredient included Brazil leaves from Philippine, Local Brazil leaves, mints and so on...

                  Wow,my boss love it...:)

When Mr Gan knows that we are from IT line, he did a special demo for us on how to release static from our body,  doing accupressure - massage on our eye brow area, it will improve the short / long sighted too!

At 12.30noon, our lunch was ready! This was the buffet served in GK organic farm, all were vegetarian and organic! The Chef is Mr Tai who really put a lot of effort in 'creating' the cuisine. As you can see, each of the dish was well decorated and taste good (however for those who are not used to raw vegetable might feel it tastes a bit weird)

We also had free flow of fresh passion fruit drink and mixed herbal tea. I have endless cups of the drinks, both my favorites.....

We take our time, enjoying the lunch, enjoying the nature, resting and chatting with Mr Gan , Mdm Lee and Mr Tai, sharing their thoughts of health, nature and dreams. Here you can also purchase some fresh organic vegetables, fruits, dried herbal tea, seeds, jam...etc.

This is a great place for you to be back to the nature, breathing the fresh air and recharge yourself.

Well, time for us to beat farewell as we need to head for our next destination..........

Grand Lexis, Port Dickson

It was another one hour drive to reach our destination Grand Lexis, Port Dickson (Formally known as The Legend International water Homes). It is quite easy for us to locate the resort, no problem using the GPS. It is a 5 star resort with private swimming pool attached with each room. They have different type of rooms, mainly separate into 3 types, sky villa, garden villa and above the sea.

We bought vouchers from the MATTA promotion a month ago and have their friendly staff to reserve 3 rooms for us.Our type of room is Deluxe Suite, a garden villa. We reached there at 3pm sharp and it is the perfect time for check-in. Check in process is fast  but we have to queue for the buggee as we will be riding on the buggee to reach our rooms. We were given the room key with 2 breakfast voucher and a discount voucher for spa.

Where is my room.....? This is the outside view of our room, before entering to the room.....

Ta.da.......so this is my room deluxe suite (garden villa).
Looks not bad.......with mini bar, microwave oven, electric kettle....2 king size bed with 4 pillow each bed...

So, where is the swimming pool? Yes...this is the entrance to the  swimming pool, in front of the sofa. Just open the sliding door........

Well, just a small pool stated 4 feet depth, may suitable for small family with small kids. Water is clean and clear, with outside shower at the small garden.
They provide also 2 life ring buoys.

Ok, what else now? Yes, how's the wash room? Here is the wash room, separate room for shower and toilet with big mirror.

After taking a nice shower, we depart to Malacca for the food hunt ( this part I will write at the last portion of the blog ...I will continue with  the resort's facilities and activities that we had done the next morning)

Yes, I did have a good night sleep with the soft big bed and all of us were very tire after a day long's traveling.

We had our breakfast at Duyung Restaurant, ground floor. It provides an international buffet with varieties of food. The food ranging from local dishes such as nasi lemak, ayam rendang to western cuisine includes different types of ham and breads, instant fried omelet, noodles, varieties of cereals. They also serve plain yogurt, cheese, salads, fruits and cookies. Drinks includes fruit juice, tea and coffee.

After consuming enough energy...Let's go for some activities!
First - The archery!

Steady..aim....ready......let go!

See my handsome colleagues with their smart pose!

The 2nd activity - the bicycle ride!

They provide the bicycle with helmet for safety purposes. The conditions of the bicycle weren't excellent , the brake at the right hand side was not functioning and when we cycled, can hear those 'yet yet' noise like the old machine, maybe the management should do maintenance to improve the conditions. We can only ride the bicycle in a specific area only, which is the lanes around the sea villa. Anyway I was enjoying myself with the sea breeze and the nice environment.

The third activity - the KMX ride
Before that, I was wondering what is KMX, it is a must try activity that i told myself! Here it is KMX, basically it is a seat with 2 wheels, you need to sit 'comfortablely' in order to step on the paddle, easy to control with both hands, small children also able to do it, they did provide smaller version for kids. Lot's of kids were enjoying it.

Grand Lexis, Port Dickson also have other activities like outdoor games, fishing and crabbing, karaoke and so on. We did not have much time to explore it all, as we only have half day to do so.

This is the landscaped public swimming pool  with children's pool too.

This is the game room. There have a kid's corner for young kids to play buiding blocks, so, young kids will have their entertainment while adults can have their fun games here. There are sections for table tennis and snooker too.

My colleagues are enjoying the snooker here.

A few final snaps at the lobby while waiting for the check out. The check out process was fast, just a simple question and signature....DONE!

Grand Lexis....hope we can be here again! I will explore more activities if I come again.
